IN-FET is the acronym of a European scientific project consortium, funded by the European Commission during 2020-2023. It stands for Ionic Neuromodulation For Epilepsy Treatment and brings together engineers, biologists, physicists, and neuroscientists to tackle the hard problem of repairing and treating the brain.

Read here our kick-off press release.

Aiming at novel neuro-technological routes for brain treatment, the project combines very different disciplines of science and technology, such as neurobiology, electrochemistry, 3-d nanofabrication, nanoelectronics, and numerical simulations. The IN-FET consortium of academic and industrial partners has a laser-sharp focus on exploiting neuronal biophysics and electronic device modeling, to build a breakthrough technology for a brand new generation of brain pacemakers.

IN-FET's efforts and discoveries will ultimately advance current neuromodulation strategies, specifically aiming at future brain implants for the treatment of brain disorders such as epilepsy. IN-FET will advance neuroscience, biomedical microsystems engineering, and nano- neurotechnology.

 IN-FET is a project funded by European Union's Horizon 2020 - FETOPEN-2018-2020 - GA n. 862882.
